Do you know why we put cracks in your walls and walls?

The presence of cracks in walls and walls is a common problem that can arise for various reasons, from structural movements to climate changes. It is crucial to understand the nature of these cracks to apply the proper solution. Here we present a practical guide to identify and repair cracks effectively.

Identification of Cracks and Fissures

Before tackling the repair, it is essential to differentiate between cracks and fissures, as well as between active and passive cracks. Cracks are openings that affect the entire thickness of the element, while fissures only affect the surface layer. Active cracks are constantly moving, while passive cracks remain stable.

Choice of Materials

The choice of materials for repair depends on the type of crack.

For active cracks, it is necessary to use elastic materials that deform with movement, while for passive cracks, non-elastic materials can be used.

Repair process

Holes must be opened at an adequate distance to insert the repair staples. These gaps must allow the staples to be located in the axis of the element to be repaired.

Fill with Mortar: Once the gaps are opened, they are filled with repair mortar. In hollow brick elements, it is recommended to introduce the mortar towards the sides to reinforce the brick voids.

Insertion of Staples: With the mortar still fresh, the staple is inserted, applying pressure on the mortar to place it on the axis of the element. Subsequently, the hole is filled with more mortar, even using it as a filler for the hole.

Mortar Setting: The mortar has the property of not having shrinkage, which prevents the formation of new cracks during the setting process.
